Orphans celebrate Mandela day with mixed feelings.

Orphans at the Good Hope Community Organisation at the Mhlaumbe section of Winterveld Phase 4, celebrated Mandela Day with mixed feelings. They were happy to celebrate Tata`s birthday but saddened by the news that he remains in a critical but stable condition.
The Good Hope Community Theatre opened the event with a splendid performance. Children from various schools came in numbers to support and celebrate Mandela Day with their friends and classmates.
The director of the theatre Oscer Baloyi, was happy to perform at the event as the day was dedicated to Madiba.
“I feel so special to come and celebrate Mandela Day here by performing with my group. We dedicate this day to Madiba, as a hero, a legend and we wish him a speedy recovery,” he said.
According to Baloyi the vision of the group is to encourage the youth in the communities to do art.
“Our vision is to develop these young people in the community to work on art and also to see our group going to different places. I want to keep them way from dangerous things like drugs, rape and also peer pressure,” he said.
The Democratic alliance (DA) spent their 67 minutes at the orphanage showing support and helping the organisation.
“The reason we came to this orphanage is because we want to commemorate Mandela day with these children. We also need to know what should be done to assist the children of this orphanage and what role can the community play in terms of supporting those who are in need,” said DA Gauteng North PR Councillor Alfred Ncube.
He also said that people should continue giving because life doesn’t end on Mandela Day.
The owner of Pick n Pay in Soshanguve, George Senosha donated a cake and said he wanted to celebrate Mandela Day with the children.
“What inspired me to bring the cake here is that I want to celebrate Mandela day with the children. We have been praying with the children and ask God to protect Mandela so he can see his 95th birthday and we are over the moon because now he has seen his 95th birthday.
Deputy Director General of Corporate Management, Thandeka Mxenge was pleased with the Department for Women and People with Disabilities for being able to spend its 67 minutes of its time giving gifts to the orphans.
“We are happy that we are able to remember what Tata Nelson Mandela means to us. We are aiming at raising awareness in our communities so that they know the importance of our children, loving our children and raising them well because they are the future of our nation. Nelson Mandela reminded us that a society can only be judged by the way it treats its own children. By this initiative we would like to remind people that this is not only for children but also for elderly people,” she said.
She exhorted the community to make every day a Mandela Day by going to orphanages and houses of elderly people and clean for them.
The founder and director of Good Hope Community organisation Mery Lwato was ecstatic with the number of people who came to her orphanage to celebrate the Nelson Mandela International Day with her.
“I’m very excited because I never thought people would come in large numbers to spend their 67 minutes with us. It is clear that people consider this day as one of the most significant days in their lives and in South Africa,” she said.
Pupils from Thulaganyo secondary school and Tswaing secondary school were very content to celebrate Mandela Day with people from different places at the orphanage.
WHERE IS THE RULING PARTY (ANC)? |
I was dumbfounded to see some of the people who live in areas that do not have electricity, running water n toilets in the province of Gauteng. People voted for the so called ANC hoping the party will rescue them from their miserable lives, but the party turned its back to its own people.
I found the statement made by president Jacob Zuma very hilarious on his visit to Western Cape where he went to a place ruled by the DA and say he was shocked by how his people suffer under the hands of the DA but my question is, why is he not shocked by the people who are suffering under his hands and his party? Is he too blind that he can't see the people he's tormenting?
I hold no brief for the E.F.F leader Julius Malema but I think he is spot on when he say the ANC is dead only the name left. This is not the ANC of Nelson Mandela, is the ANC led by greedy people. As the national elections are around the corner, they go all over the country campaigning and wanting people to vote for them.
They promise our people things they cannot provide. I think the African National Congress (ANC) should change its slogan "working together we can do more" because it does not suit them. During election time they will say working together we can do more and after elections they will say Vuk' uzenzela. It`s time for our people to open their eyes and vote for the party that will represent them, a party that will listen to their concerns.

Barca bet on Neymar to ease dependence on Messi

Barcelona announced this morning that after a transfer saga lasting some 18 months they have finally landed Brazilian international Neymar from Santos on a five-year deal that is expected to cost the Catalan club around €50 million (R615 million).
The 21-year-old was always expected to come to Barca when he eventually left his homeland, but rather than wait till his contract expired with the Brazilian club next year, the Spanish champions have sped up the operation as they try to rejuvenate a tired squad that suffered the club’s worst ever defeat in European competition when they were hammered 7-0 by eventual Champions League winners Bayern Munich in this year’s semi-finals.
Even at his tender age, Neymar has already shown glimpses of his brilliance on the big stage with 20 goals in 32 international appearances, whilst his incredible return of 156 goals in 256 games for Santos at such a young age has seem him inevitably compared to Pele.
However, it is the potential to combine with another of the all-time greats that Barca are interested in as they look for someone to ease the goalscoring and creative burden on Lionel Messi.
Barca’s reliance on Messi was particularly exposed in this season’s Champions League when the Argentine was called into action whilst clearly carrying a hamstring injury to get them across the line against Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals.
Messi ended up playing only 75 minutes of the 180 in that tie. The period he was on the pitch Barca won 2-0, the time he was on the sidelines they lost 3-1.
Worse was to come for the Catalans, though, in the humiliation at the hands of Bayern. Again a hobbling Messi was forced into action in the first-leg as the Germans romped to a 4-0 victory, and with the four-time World Player of the Year consigned to the bench for the return, a Barca side devoid of creation and belief were again picked off 3-0.
In the two years Barca have won the Champions League in Messi’s stellar era, he has had significant support in the goalscoring charts.
In 2008/09 Samuel Eto’o and Thierry Henry combined for 62 goals to Messi’s 38. And in 2010/11, Pedro and David Villa contributed 55 to the Argentine’s 53.
Over the past two season Messi has reached the barely fathomable figure of 123 goals, whilst Cesc Fabregas comes closest with just 28.
Questions still remain over how Neymar will adapt to the European game. His effectiveness has been tempered in big Copa Libertadores and international fixtures when forced to play in reduced spaces, something which Barca are faced with on a weekly basis as they have to weave themselves through the parked bus in front of the opposition’s goal.
And there are also concerns over the Brazilian’s reliance on drawing soft free-kicks that tend to be given in the striker’s favour in his homeland.
However, unlike some other big money Barca signings in recent seasons such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Fabregas, Neymar fits into the current Barca style and formation.
His ability to cut in from the left side will not only pose a goal threat and allow him to combine with Messi, but also allow the ever adventurous Jordi Alba to surge forward on the overlap.
And, arguably most importantly of all, despite questions over how their egos may collide, Neymar’s acquisition seems to have the green light from Messi.
“He is a great player, makes the difference and is very good in one against one situations,” he told reporters earlier this week.
“For us I suppose it would be a marvellous addition. He is a type of player that offers very different individual solutions to the rest.”
It is that variety that the bosses at the Camp Nou are hoping will reignite the spark in an attack that has faded into a one-man show over the past two years.

Sexual assault in universities
By Alfred Makhubela, Ntsako Mashaba and Ernest Mabasa
Several sexual assaults have been reported in various universities in South Africa. The main perpetrators are lecturers who take advantage of vulnerable underperforming students in search for marks to boost their academic records.
Reverend Ramokgadi of Tshwane University of Technology student Support and Development said female are not the only victims. He said that in most cases the weak are overpowered by the powerful of any gender. “Sexual assaults are mostly done by those who are powerful, either in positions or physic and doing it to the vulnerable it can be either male or female”, he said.
Ramokgadi emphasised that strong messages should be distributed for society and perpetrators to know that what they are doing is bad and eventually might stop abusing. He advices students to report sexual abuse to the relevant people.
Bandile Ngobese , a 3rd year Education student said that to avoid sexual abuse people should start by respecting themselves. “It all starts with respect, we should respect our selves. We should respect our bodies by dressing appropriately”.

Over a month ago, the creaking floodgates that retained decades of secrets about alleged sexual predation at University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg strained. After a series of leaks, it was a story in a national Sunday newspaper that would see the mass spilling of a public shame. The academic institution celebrated for its research prowess and for producing four Nobel Prize Laureates stood accused of an unspeakable scandal.

The other good thing about the site is that they keep in touch with their readers through face book and Twitter.
The disadvantage of this site is that they don’t have a blog and video. Their readers get informed only by reading not by watching a video.
